About "Earth Music"
Two years in the making, this one million hour long ambient music track was released to celebrate Earth Day 2022. There are about 114 years of music for you to explore here.
Canton Becker composed this music as well as the algorithm that orchestrates field recordings from all over Earth. The first billion digits of pi (3.14…) are used to generate the "score" that layers these sounds.
Because the numbers in pi never repeat, each of the million hours of "Earth" are in fact unique. By fast forwarding to some distant moment in the song, you are virtually guaranteed experience something that nobody else – including the composer himself – has ever heard before.
